Halo Salt Therapy
Halo Salt Therapy
“Salt is born of the purest of parents: the sun and the sea”
-Pythagorus 580 BC-500 BC
What is Halo therapy?
It is the inhalation of very fine salt particles. It is the use of salt vapor to treat respiratory ailments, skin irritations, and combat mental lethargy. For centuries, monks used naturally-occurring salt caverns to treat respiratory ailments.
How it works:
In order to infuse the atmosphere with salt particles, halogenerators are used to grind salt into very fine particles.
The history of Halo therapy:
The process dates back to the 11th or 12th centuries, when people would visit Eastern Europe’s natural salt caves to heal their ailments. In the 1840’s, Dr. Feliks Boczkowski, a Polish doctor who was treating miners, started to study salt’s medicinal properties. He had noticed that while coal miners were plagued with all kinds of respiratory problems, salt miners were emerging with pristine lungs and no health complaints. He published a book on his findings and a few years later, one of his pupils founded the first salt clinic near Krakow, Poland.
Himalayan salt rocks emit negative ions. Injured and diseased cells are electron-deficient, so submitting the body to an electron-rich environment benefits and heals cells by absorption. second, salt in its microcrystalline form has antiseptic, antibacterial, fungal, and antiviral effects on the epithelial cells (one of the body’s most important for protection and secretion) The salt helps your cells consolidate inflammation and mucus, so your body can get rid of it.
Just some of the people who would benefit from Halo therapy are those with asthma, bronchitis, allergies, cystic fibrosis, psoriasis, and general skin inflammation.
Every room in The healing Den of Salem has the benefits of Himalayan salt walls. This creates a negative ion rich environment everywhere you go in our spa.
What are negative ions? They are invisible molecules that carry a negative electric charge.
When negative ions enter your bloodstream they initiate a series of chemical reactions. It is believed that negative ions increase your levels of the mood enhancer, serotonin. As a result you feel elated and less stressed and depressed. Furthermore, your available energy is also increased.
What negative ions do to your body?
Increase blood flow to your brain
Protect you from harmful microorganisms and dust found suspended in the air around you.
Positively regulate your body’s circadian rhythm similar to what temperature and sunlight do.
Increase levels of antioxidant superoxide dismutase circulating within your body.
In summary, your body feels healthier in a negative ion rich environment, which in turn translates to better mood and frame of mind and increased energy.
